Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Jaipur Arrival Colors of Folk Music and Dance.

It starts in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Check in your hotel and have a short rest.  

Later on the evening, have a glimpse of the folk culture of Rajasthan through a special cultural evening in Choki Dhani (or other Rajasthan traditional village resorts). Here you can enjoy folk dances under the open sky, such as Kalbelia and Ghoomar, Puppet Show, Magic Tricks,a  Camel Ride, and Rajasthani music. Highlight is a traditional Rajasthani Thali dinner that is served on low wooden tables, which gives you a taste of local hospitality. Stay overnight in Jaipur.

 

Day 2: Jaipur to Bundi - Living Heritage and Local Crafts

After breakfast, a small city, which still retains its rustic attraction, drive on a bundi (about 4-5 hours). Compared to tourist metropolises with a large number of people, Bundi appears to be a secret place where ancient traditions are not deafening. Arrive and get room in a hotel and take a short rest. Visit Bundi Palace later which is known as having sensitive murals depicting folklore narratives. The beauty of the palace is unspoiled and it seems like it has been frozen.

During the evening come to a nearby village and meet some local artisans who craft earthen pots, plain paintings and wooden toys. These mini-workshops provide you with the actual picture of the life of the people in Rajasthan.

Overnight stay in Bundi.

 

Day 3: Bundi to Banswara -Meeting the Tribal Bhils.

Breakfast, and then proceed to Banswara some 5-6 hours. Banswara is sometimes referred to as the city of a hundred islands due to the numerous number of islands on Mahi River. It is among the most significant tribal regions of Rajasthan and it hosts the Bhil community.On arrival, check into a comfortable hotel or eco-short. Later in the afternoon, find out the nearby tribal villages where you can see the traditional houses of colorful dress, silver jewelry, and bhil. You can also get a chance to see their folk equipment, like the Mandal and the Dhol.

In the evening, enjoy a tribal dance performance, where men and women dance in circles around drums, celebrate their festivals and crops. The energy and simplicity of these demonstrations reflect the true happiness of rural life.Stay overnight in Banswara.

 

Day 4: Banswara to Udaipur - Folk Arts and Cultural Show

Breakfast drive to Udaipur. It takes about 5 hours. Upon arrival, get into the hotel and take a rest. In the evening, visit Bagore Palace on Picola Lake where one can watch one of the best folk shows in Rajasthan. The show includes puppet plays, tribal dances, and fire performances, set in a beautiful old mansion courtyard. Highlight is the famous Terra Taal Dance, where artists balance 13 cymbals while dancing!

Stay in Udaipur overnight.

 

Day 5: Udaipur to Jaisalmer - Desert folk traditions

After breakfast, drive on Jaisalmer (about 7-8 hours). On the way, enjoy the changing scenes as Green Hills give way to the dry desert landscape. On arrival, check at a desert camp near Sam Sand Tibba. In the evening, get ready for a magical experience. Sit around a campfire as local musicians and sing Gathagat of Kings, lovers, and warriors. Kalbeliya dancers spin in their black skirts with mirrors on them. Listen to Manganiyar singers in the desert songs. The sky is dark, stars are shining in the sky, the drums are playing, the golden tibba is illuminated under the moon. Have a local dinner and spend night in a desert camp.

Day 6: Jaisalmer - Village Life & Departure

Rise and go round to see the sunrise in the desert. Return to a village and observe the way people live after breakfast. You will find mirror designs on mud houses, women digging up wells and men in bright turbans. Then visit Jaisalmer fort also known as Sonar Quilla or Golden fort. There are small shops inside that sell hand-made clothes, puppets, jewelry all of the Rajasthan folk culture. At noon take your next trip to Jaisalmer rail station or air travel. This is a termination of your Rajasthan Tribal and Lok Sanskriti tour.
