Destination : Delhi – Agra – Fatehpur Sikri – Abhaneri – Jaipur
The Golden Triangle Tour is among the most renowned circuits of India in terms of tourism due to the fact that it entails three culturally diverse cities, namely, Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. This is a 5 day tour that will make you know the history, architecture, heritage and traditions of India in a very comfortable manner. The journey starts with the national capital, Delhi, where contemporary life coexists with Mughal palaces and bustling bazaars. You visit its rich culture and go on to Agra, the city of the beautiful Taj Mahal, and then the historic Fatehpur Sikri. It goes on to the old stepwell of Abhaneri and then to the royal city of Jaipur. The tour is a wonderful combination of forts, palaces, Mughal art, Rajput architecture and colourful markets and offers you a wonderful idea of the rich Indian history.
Day 1: Arrival in Delhi & Local Sightseeing
Your journey on the Golden Triangle starts when you arrive in Delhi. Upon arrival at the airport or railway station, you will be taken to the hotel where you will be checked in and have a brief rest. Your sightseeing tour starts in the afternoon, and you come to the Red Fort (outside) that is a symbol of the rich Mughal history of India. Then you move on to Jama Masjid, which is among the largest mosques in India and the serene courtyards and massive building provide a relaxing atmosphere. A brief stroll along the lanes of Chandni Chowk will present you with the old markets of Delhi with all their street food, spices and colourful shops. Then there is the India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan (exterior) and the beautiful Lotus Temple. In case of time, you can also visit Connaught Place and do some shopping or visit a cafe. Go to your hotel and stay overnight.
Day 2: Delhi to Agra – Visit the Taj Mahal & Agra Fort
It is followed by breakfast and a check out and then a drive to Agra on the Yamuna Expressway. When you arrive at Agra, you get into your hotel and take a shower. You will start your sightseeing with the great Taj Mahal, which is among the Seven Wonders of the World. The marble structure was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal and it shines brightly in the sun and is symbolic of everlasting love. Once you have had a quiet moment of sightseeing the monument, you proceed to the Agra fort which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This huge red sandstone fort has beautiful palaces, courtyards and balconies that show the Mughal craftsmanship. In the evening, it is possible to go to the local marble stores and handicraft markets. Night stay in Agra.
Day 3: Agra – Fatehpur Sikri – Abhaneri – Jaipur
On the third day you will be on the road as you leave your hotel and head to Jaipur. The initial destination is the historic Fatehpur Sikri that is the deserted Mughal city constructed by the emperor Akbar. You may visit Buland Darwaza, Panch Mahal, Jodha Bai Palace and the lovely courtyard of Jama Masjid. The city is an ideal representation of Mughal architecture and red sandstone art. Then you go on with your journey to Abhaneri, a small village that has a very old stepwell, Chand Baori. The stepwell is beautiful due to its deep well design and the perfectly symmetrical steps. You can also pay a visit to the Harshat Mata Temple. The village provides a serene and exotic rural Rajasthan experience. And then you go to Jaipur, the Pink City. On arrival, check in to your hotel and rest. Evening can be spent in visiting the local markets such as Bapu Bazaar and Johari Bazaar. Overnight stay in Jaipur.
Day 4: Jaipur City Tour – Forts, Palaces & Culture
Following breakfast, your spent day in Jaipur starts. The first destination of your trip is the great Amber Fort that is situated on a hill and has great architecture and beautiful views. You are allowed to stroll in its courtyards, palaces and mirror-filled Sheesh Mahal. Here you pass by Jal Mahal which is a beautiful palace in the centre of a lake and is also an ideal place to take photographs. Then you go to the City Palace that still hosts the royal family and has royal clothes, artworks and weapons in the museum. Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory, is located right next to it and constructed by Raja Jai Singh II. It possesses massive tools that calculate time and analyze the movement of stars.During the afternoon, you pay a visit to the famous Hawa Mahal (exterior) with its 953 windows that were designed so that the royal ladies could observe the city life. In the evening you can go out and shop in handicrafts, jewellery, block-printed clothes and traditional Rajasthani products. Overnight stay in Jaipur.
Day 5: Jaipur Departure – End of the Tour
Your Golden Triangle trip ends with you having breakfast in your hotel on the day of departure and then you pack your bags. You can go to a local cafe or just go out on a short walk in the pink coloured streets depending on your departure time. You will be then later dropped at Jaipur airport, railway station or bus stand to continue your journey. The 5 day tour will leave you with some beautiful recollections of ancient cities, royal palaces, Mughal architecture and Indian culture.
